If you intend to carry a firearm while working as a Guard, Alarm Agent, PPO, or Private investigator, you must have an Exposed Firearms Permit; even if you intend to carry concealed!
Failure to have a permit is not only a BSIS violation (fines & suspension/revocation of permits) but an arrestable crime (CA PC 25850)
This is an 8-hour training plus range time.
At the completion of the 8-hour classroom portion of this training, you will have a working knowledge of the responsibilities and legal requirements of carrying a gun while on-duty. Before you leave, we will help you fill out your application, issue you a certificate of completion, and make sure you have zero questions about the application process
Range training and qualifications are hosted at Shooter's Paradise of Oxnard. It includes a safety review, manipulation review, and qualification.
The training is $275 not including range fees and ammo.
If you do not have a firearm, we will provide a 9mm or .40 caliber Glock for your qualification. If you shoot your own firearm, it must be inspected by our rangemaster, and you must have at least two magazines.
BSIS is quoting 4-6 months to receive your permit.
This time starts after you submit your livescan.
Yes, there is a background that is initiated by your fingerprinting (livescan).
